Introduction: In our pursuit of decentralising the Ergo Foundation and giving more responsibility to the Ergo community, I see the need to foster a more inclusive and accessible environment for potential contributors. To further this aim, I propose a change to our current membership process, specifically the elimination of the initial application vote.

Current Membership Process: At present, individuals interested in joining the sigs must apply and pass an initial vote to become candidates before gaining access to meetings and chats.

I see this as problematic because most voting members may not know anything about the applicant and could deny them based on face value or a little bit of creeping their socials. Whats worse is if they do know them, and let their personal views on the applicant sway their vote.

Fuck that.

Proposal: I propose that we simplify the membership process by removing the initial application vote altogether. This adjustment trys to make it easier for newcomers to join our community without a voting barrier.

This will allow us to get to know them. Even allow the newcomer to explain themselves if some people are protesting their
membership.

Benefits:

Increased Accessibility: By eliminating the initial vote, we make it simpler for people to become part of our community, encouraging broader participation, and further decentarlizing the group.

Reduced Hurdles: Removing the application vote removes a layer of complexity and bureaucracy from our process, aligning with our mission to streamline and decentralize our operations. I think...

Implementation:

Newcomers interested in joining the sigs will be able to do so without the need for an initial vote on their application.

They will immediately gain access to meetings and chats upon expressing their interest in joining.

Conclusion: This proposal seeks to remove a potential barrier to entry for individuals who want to contribute. It simplifies our membership process while still maintaining transparency and openness to newcomers.


Reason:
- Oh and there can be an overwhelming amount of votes here sometimes... This will cut out a bunch of them :)

- You dont need to be a sigcan to contribute, there is already no barrier and that's why we have the community marketing chat. Sigmanauts program is for people already in the community and contributing
